The purpose of Municipal Enforcement is to enhance community safety by educating the public and raising awareness and compliance of Town Bylaws. Okotoks Peace Officers are authorized to enforce bylaws and regulations for issues they observe during daily patrols as well as those received from residents.

If you witness graffiti being applied, call 9-1-1 immediately to report it as a crime in progress. If you observe graffiti on private or public property, call the Okotoks Municipal Enforcement 24 hour complaint line at 403-938-8913. A Peace Officer will visit the location, photograph the graffiti, and create an investigation report to track it.

Please be mindful of your neighbours and do not cause or permit noise that annoys or disturbs the peace of people in the area.
Construction activities must not create noise or disturbances that can be heard in a residential building prior to 7 a.m. Monday to Saturday, and 9 a.m. on Sundays and holidays, or any day past 10 p.m.
Please avoid operating tools, machinery, or equipment that creates noise or disturbance in a residential building between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. on Monday to Saturday and from 10:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. on holidays.

Okotoks bylaws prohibits vehicles from parking in any back alley or laneway unless the driver is actively engaged in loading or unloading the vehicle.
Recreation vehicles may park for up to 72 hours on a front driveway or on the street for loading and unloading purposes. If a trailer is parked on the street, it must be attached to a tow vehicle at all times.
Recreation vehicles may be stored on private property in the back yard, or in a side yard that is not adjacent to a roadway.
Private property owners/tenants must ensure grass and weeds are maintained and do not to grow to a height that would be considered unsightly in comparison to adjacent or surrounding properties. Property owners must also maintain any adjoining boulevard as well as up to the center of the alley or lane at the rear of their premises. Natural grasses used in xeriscape yards are not included in this regulation.
Private property owners/tenants must remove as soon as possible, or within 24 hours, all snow, ice, dirt or debris and other obstructions from the public sidewalk adjoining their premises.
Flyers depicting graphic images must be concealed in an opaque envelope; the exterior of the envelope contains the following legible warning: “Contains a graphic image that may be offensive or disturbing”; and the exterior of the envelope clearly identifies the sender and the sender’s address. Any advertising with graphic imagery must be in compliance with the Canadian Code of Advertising Standards.
Flyers cannot be distributed at any home or dwelling that has a visible sign indicating that they do not want flyers.
