The Town of Okotoks is inviting residents to apply to serve on a Council committee or board and make a meaningful impact in their community.
“When residents step up to serve on a committee or board, they’re not just volunteering, they’re helping shape the future of Okotoks in a real and lasting way,” said Mayor Tanya Thorn. “These provide a unique chance to bring your perspective to the table, influence decisions that matter and strengthen the connections that make our town thrive.”
Applications are being accepted until September 21, 2025, for 13 positions across six committees of Council, including one youth position:
- Okotoks Public Library Board
Members help the library remain vibrant by setting policies that address community needs, identifying new services and activities, promoting the library, fundraising and establishing the budget.!
- Family and Community Support Services
Members contribute to building a safe, welcoming community through identifying social issues and support programs, as well as distribute funding to organizations that strengthen family and community life.
- United Way/Okotoks Partnership Committee
Members oversee a community fundraising campaign, then allocate those funds to local non-profits with impactful program ideas that support Okotoks and the surrounding area. Youth position available.
- Assessment Review Board
Members participate in hearings and make fair decisions on property assessment appeals.
- Subdivision and Development Appeal Board
Members hear subdivision and development-related appeals and apply legislative and planning frameworks to reach informed decisions.
- Marigold Library System Board
Members represent Okotoks on this regional library collaborative that pools resources that help local libraries offer more than they could alone.
