Sports Tourism Grant

The following events are eligible for the Sports Tourism Grant: 

• Provincial, western, national, or international sports events
• Major events and multi-sport games
• Multi-day events are preferred, but single-day events may qualify if they generate over $250,000 in economic impact, verified by Sport Tourism Canada's STEAM tools.

Special considerations include events with over 1,000 participants, or those focused on emerging sports with plans to expand into multi-day events or larger competitions.

Funding ranges for the Sport Tourism Grant include: 

• Multi-sport games, major, and international events: $8,000–$15,000
• National events: $6,000–$7,500
• Western events: $3,000–$5,500
• Provincial events: $2,500–$5,000

Is your event eligible for the Sport Tourism Grant? Follow these steps to apply! 

• Event organizers must initially contact the appropriate Facility Booking Administrator to review event/activity eligibility, venue availability and other pertinent items. 
• Upon venue availability approval, the applicant must submit a Sport Tourism Grant Application Form including the Event Budget / Financial Impacts. A Town of Okotoks Facility Booking Agreement, if applicable, should be attached to the application. 
• Applications must be received no less than two (2) months prior to the scheduled event date. Retroactive grants will not be awarded.
